Nintendo released Update Version 13.0.5 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on September 1, 2026, marking the game's first software patch in over a year. The unexpected download focuses exclusively on backend network stability, addressing critical online battle bugs across the Nintendo Switch ecosystem.

According to official Nintendo Customer Support documentation, the update serves a single targeted purpose without introducing balance adjustments or fighter changes. The patch note explicitly states: 'Fixed behavior that occurs when invalid data is sent or received in online battles.' This fix targets specific desynchronization issues and potential network exploits during online matchmaking.

As with previous network-level patches, players must take immediate precautions regarding local fight recordings. Replays generated between version 9.0.0 and version 13.0.4 risk becoming unplayable post-update.
